Event Profile: Approved by the Ministry of Commerce of China, China Xinjiang Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair (short for Urumqi Fair), is the biggest international fair in Northwest China, connecting markets of Russia, Central Asia and West China as a bridge, providing business opportunities in the development of the western region. During Urumqi Fair 2003, the volume of export and import is USD 1,674 million, foreign economic cooperation USD 482 million, domestic trade & economic cooperation RMB 51,251 million. There are 18 kinds of export commodities whose volume exceed USD 10 million, as cotton, tomato ketchup, sliced polyester, garment, small articles of daily use, thick chilli sauce, cable, shoes, rice, cotton yarn, seamless tube, transformer, radio-tape recorder, motorcycle, fruit juice, metallurgical equipment, instant noodles, building materials, and 12 kinds of import commodities, as copper, waste copper, steel, petroleum, waste steel, oxhide, chemical fertilizer, liquefied petroleum gas, copper ore, chromium, waste aluminum, heavy oil.
